Bark Air launched a dedicated charter flight service for dogs and their owners on May 23, but the dog-focused airline is already facing difficulties.

Talon Air, a charter company, provides flights on 14-seat Gulfstream jets from New York’s Westchester County Airport (HPN) to Los Angeles and London.

Nevertheless, Westchester County is currently taking legal action against both Bark Inc. and Talon due to the fact that their flights depart from the airport’s private jet section. The county asserts that these flights contravene local regulations, which stipulate that both charter and commercial airlines operating aircraft with over nine seats are required to use HPN’s six-gate commercial terminal.

Several other air charter companies have contested the county law in federal court, arguing that federal regulations take precedence over the county’s rules. However, no ruling has been issued in the case yet.

The circumstances might become challenging, however at present, a representative from Bark stated: “Bark does not comment on legal proceedings. Nevertheless, we don’t anticipate this will affect our business activities.”

Bark Air’s inaugural flight to London departed last week, and the airline has now announced its complete winter schedule. The schedule features flights from Westchester to destinations such as Los Angeles, London, and Paris.
