The luxury lifestyle brand Virgin Hotels is set to launch in London later this year.
Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch is scheduled to open in August in the fashionable Shoreditch area of the city. The 120-room establishment will be the brand’s eighth hotel. Many might view this as a much-anticipated development, considering London is the origin of Sir Richard Branson’s expansive Virgin Group, which encompasses divisions such as Virgin Hotels and Virgin Atlantic.
“We’re incredibly thrilled that Virgin Hotels Collection will be launching a Virgin hotel in London,” Branson announced in a statement. “Ever since Virgin Hotels began, we’ve aimed to establish a presence in London; a city that many of our customers either call home or consider one of their top destinations — and naturally, where Virgin’s journey commenced.”
The new hotel will be a transformation of the current Mondrian London Shoreditch, which belongs to Accor’s Ennismore lifestyle division. The Spanish restaurant, BiBo Shoreditch, found in the Mondrian, will remain open in the upcoming Virgin Hotels-affiliated property. Additionally, guests will be able to use a rooftop bar, a pool, a private members club, a gym, and treatment rooms. According to the company’s statement, the rebranding in August will initiate a “gradual transformation” to achieve a complete Virgin Hotels atmosphere.
The expansion into London provides members of the Virgin Hotels’ The Know loyalty program and Virgin Red with a new location to earn and redeem points. Additional information regarding the loyalty integration will be released later this year.
Although the company may have secured a sought-after location in London for Virgin Hotels, the brand is already established in the United Kingdom with a hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland. Additionally, the brand has a notable presence in the United States in cities such as Chicago, New York City, and New Orleans.

Although it will be Virgin Hotels’ eighth location, Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch will stand as the 17th establishment within the broader Virgin Hotels Collection, which includes both Virgin Hotels and Virgin Limited Edition—an assortment of unique retreats such as Necker Island in the Caribbean and Kasbah Tamadot in Morocco.
“James Bermingham, CEO of Virgin Hotels Collection, stated, ‘This year signifies a decade of Virgin Hotels, and there’s no better way to kick off the early festivities than by revealing our latest hotel in one of the globe’s most renowned cities.’”
