Chase is set to launch a Sapphire Lounge in Los Angeles, marking its 10th confirmed location, according to The Points Guy.

Chase is rapidly closing in on having the largest network of airport lounges branded with its credit card.

On Thursday, the issuer announced plans to establish a new Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The upcoming LAX lounge will be located close to the western gates of the Tom Bradley International Terminal, next to Gate 148.

All the terminals at LAX are linked airside (past security), so in theory, any passenger could access this new location. However, reaching TBIT can be a challenge depending on the terminal you are starting from.

Chase revealed limited information about the new lounge but did confirm it will span 9,234 square feet. This is relatively small, particularly for an airport of LAX’s magnitude, so it’s likely you’ll need to be ready to wait in line to access the lounge.

The issuer assured that there would be more updates as construction advances, but this area appears to be far from completion.

Once it opens, it will compete with the American Express Centurion Lounge that debuted in 2020 within the TBIT. The Amex lounge spans almost 14,000 square feet and can accommodate slightly more than 500 guests.

According to the rendering, the Chase lounge seems to offer airside views with abundant natural light, which is a notable difference from the interior location of the Amex lounge.

Interestingly, Chase’s depiction of the facade entrance places the lounge at an external terminal position, but this is probably just a schematic that will be updated with the TBIT.

The Los Angeles branch will be one of the issuer’s most prominent locations. Chase already operates lounges at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), Dulles International Airport (IAD), and at both John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in New York. In particular, the two-story LGA location is arguably the finest credit card-branded lounge in the nation.

Chase also has a robust lineup of forthcoming (confirmed) locations, in addition to the current ones.

  • Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas (LAS)
  • Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)
  • Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) can be rephrased as:

Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix (PHX).

  • San Diego International Airport (SAN)

This growth follows intensifying competition among airport lounges. American Express had a dominant position with its Centurion Lounge network, which launched in 2013. Since that time, Amex has spread its network nationwide.

Capital One introduced its initial lounge at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) in 2021. Currently, there are three locations in total, with lounges at Denver International Airport (DEN) and Washington Dulles, alongside DFW. Additionally, a future location is confirmed for JFK.

Capital One is additionally developing compact dining-centric “landings” at both LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), with the inaugural location anticipated to open in the near future.

Regarding Chase, the issuer was the last among the top three to inaugurate a lounge. Its Hong Kong location started receiving visitors in 2022.

However, the issuer has been experiencing rapid growth, and its outstanding facilities include a variety of amenities highly sought after by travelers.

Chase shared with TPG that they are thrilled to start building a top-tier lounge experience for their Sapphire Reserve cardholders residing in or passing through Los Angeles.
