Chobe National Park is a prominent natural gem in Botswana. Renowned for the Chobe River shore that borders Namibia, housing one of the continent’s largest African elephant populations, along with a significant concentration of predators, Chobe lures in travelers seeking a unique safari adventure.
Although camping is an option within the park, several Chobe safari lodges are must-haves on every travel agenda.
Why opt for a safari lodge in Chobe?
Certainly, you could reside in the nearby Kasane town, but few experiences compare to awakening to the sounds of the wilderness and being amongst the first adventurers out on a game drive.

Safari Lodges in the Savute area
The Savute region is situated in the southwestern part of Chobe National Park. The Savute Channel is known for its erratic flooding patterns. It experienced drought in 1880 before flooding again in 1957. Following another dry spell, the channel flooded again in 2009, with waters reaching the Savute marsh in 2010.
This channel draws in extensive herds of elephants, groups of zebras, lion prides, and packs of hyenas.
Birdwatching in Savute is also exceptional. Kori bustards, vultures, and the stunning secretary birds are frequent sightings. Fish eagles and Abdim’s storks can be observed during summer. Enormous flocks of quelea finches are present during April.
Savute Safari Lodge
Savute Safari Lodge sits on the Savuti Channel and is one of the premier lodges in Chobe. The Channel is notable for its irregular flooding patterns. It dried out in 1880, flooded again in 1957, and after another dry interval, it flooded once more in 2009, reaching the Savute marsh in 2010.
The area’s high concentrations of elephants, lions, and hyenas make Savute Safari Lodge an ideal location for understanding wildlife dynamics.
The lodge offers a private atmosphere with just 11 thatched chalets accommodating a maximum of 24 guests.
