Assessing My Hyatt Concierge: A Worthwhile Advantage or a Letdown?
There are numerous impressive advantages to holding World of Hyatt Globalist status. In this article, I want to address one of the “soft” perks linked to Hyatt status, which is the My Hyatt Concierge feature. How can you attain it, what does it provide, and how does it perform in real-world scenarios?

In this article:

How can you qualify for the My Hyatt Concierge feature?

With World of Hyatt, certain benefits are granted just by achieving a specific status tier, while others are obtained through the Milestone Rewards initiative. The My Hyatt Concierge advantage is part of the latter category:

– You qualify for a My Hyatt Concierge when you achieve 60 elite nights or accumulate 100,000 base points (which corresponds to $20,000 in qualifying spend) within a calendar year. Additionally, if you are a lifetime Globalist member, this benefit continues indefinitely; even elite nights obtained through Hyatt’s credit cards count toward this
– After qualifying, a My Hyatt Concierge representative will contact you within a four-week period with their details; usually, this happens much quicker, though there might be instances where it takes that long
– It’s important to note that all Globalist members (no matter how they qualify) have access to a dedicated phone line with shorter hold times and (ideally) improved service, but this is distinct from this perk

What assistance can My Hyatt Concierge provide?

Officially, what are My Hyatt Concierge representatives meant to assist with? Once you are welcomed into the program, here’s what My Hyatt Concierge representatives advertise as available services (I’m directly copying and pasting):

– Research and recommend the World of Hyatt location that suits you best
– Aid you in utilizing the Suite Upgrades and Free Nights you have earned
– Assist you with special requests, from dining reservations to spa bookings
– Organize activities and surprises for your loved ones to enhance everyone’s experience
– Provide answers regarding your account

So indeed, according to the official stance, that’s the value they’re expected to bring…

How valuable is My Hyatt Concierge really?

Although I’ve maintained top-tier status with Hyatt for more than 15 years, the My Hyatt Concierge program was only launched in 2017, coinciding with the introduction of the World of Hyatt program (this wasn’t part of the previous Hyatt Gold Passport initiative).

So, how effective is this service? Before diving into that, let me acknowledge that, as with any aspect of customer service, experiences may vary based on who your assigned My Hyatt Concierge is.

Moreover, I’m not someone who seeks to make numerous specific hotel requests through this program. If I need support with dining reservations or any such matter, I’ll simply contact the hotel concierge directly, bypassing a middleman to avoid complications.

With that stated, I was recently introduced to a new My Hyatt Concierge earlier this year. She sent a welcome email, but that has been the entirety of our communication, and there has been no additional proactive outreach. Fair enough, I guess, since I haven’t made any requests!

The My Hyatt Concierge I had before was very pleasant and also adept at addressing my inquiries. The downside, in my opinion, is that I found their response times quite sluggish, to the extent that I gradually ceased using the service.

When attempting to apply a Suite Upgrade Award to an existing booking, timing is crucial due to limited availability. Therefore, during such occasions, I’d prefer to simply call the Globalist line or reach out to @HyattConcierge on X to expedite the process.

Consequently, I personally do not find this perk valuable at all. This isn’t necessarily a criticism of the program, as there are inherent limits to how personalized the service can be, considering (presumably) the number of Globalist members eligible for this service.

I perceive limited value in the My Hyatt Concierge program

How does Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador measure up?

Achieving Marriott Bonvoy’s top-tier Ambassador status requires 100 elite nights and $23,000 in annual spending. Arguably the most significant benefit of Ambassador status is having a dedicated point of contact at Marriott. Conceptually, it mirrors what Hyatt provides.

Now, it’s true that Marriott Ambassador status is a bit more exclusive than Hyatt Globalist status purely in terms of the qualifications needed. I mean, Marriott properties should theoretically extend greater efforts for Ambassador members compared to what Hyatt properties do for Globalist members. That said, this isn’t always the case (on the contrary, I generally observe the opposite), but it’s what should happen…

I also currently hold Ambassador status. While I’ve heard many individuals claim their Ambassador is ineffective, mine is exceptional. He continuously takes the initiative to look out for me.
