United Airlines Restarts Flights from Houston to Caracas, Venezuela

United Airlines has revealed intentions to restart flights to Venezuela, following a nine-year break. The carrier will commence daily direct flights between Houston (IAH) and Caracas (CCS) beginning on August 11, 2026. The service will deploy a Boeing 737 MAX 8, equipped with 166 seats, comprising 16 first-class seats and 150 economy seats.

Patrick Quayle, United’s SVP of Global Network Planning and Alliances, conveyed excitement regarding the restart, emphasizing the enhancement of cultural and economic connections throughout the Americas. Sean Duffy, the United States Transportation Secretary, underlined the importance of the flight in promoting economic possibilities, especially in the oil industry.

United’s re-entry into Venezuela follows suit with American Airlines, which has already resumed flights to Caracas from Miami. The choice is influenced by the needs of the oil industry, considering Houston’s importance in the field. The new route is anticipated to serve oil sector employees, although initial demand may fluctuate.

United Airlines’ return to the Venezuelan market signifies an important shift in U.S.-Venezuela relations, with potential repercussions for both the aviation and oil sectors. The market’s progression will be carefully monitored as the service launches.
