In 2024, Portland International Airport (PDX) introduced a remarkable new terminal, recognized as one of the finest in the nation. Initially, the lack of a new Alaska Lounge was highlighted, but there’s now a positive development. The eagerly awaited Alaska Lounge Portland is set to launch on June 4, 2026, following more than two years of construction at a cost of approximately $18 million. The new lounge encompasses over 14,000 square feet, twice the area of the former one, enabling it to host over 200 guests.
The lounge showcases a cozy Pacific Northwest design with elevated ceilings, abundant natural light, and views of the terminal. Amenities feature comfortable loungers, phone booths, a fireplace, and a wooden mural of Mt. Hood. It includes a full-service bar, barista coffee, and a buffet. Access regulations for the Alaska Lounge are available online, along with the initial images of the venue.
Alaska Airlines is further broadening its lounge network with plans for three additional lounges. In late 2027, a new 41,000 square foot Alaska Lounge will debut in Seattle, designed for long-haul business class travelers and Atmos Rewards Titanium members. In 2028, new lounges will be launched in San Diego and Honolulu, with sizes of 13,000 and 15,000 square feet, respectively.
The Alaska Lounge Portland is set to open at last, and it seems to be worth the anticipation, being considerably larger and more attractive than the previous lounge. Alaska Air Group continues to enhance its lounge network with new sites in Seattle, San Diego, and Honolulu anticipated in the coming years.
