In the past few months, the United States has launched a special edition “patriotic passport” showcasing President Trump. The Trump administration intends to implement lasting modifications to the conventional US passport, with a new version set to debut in 2028. Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed the revamped passport on September 29, 2026, coinciding with the inauguration of america.gov, a new hub for federal services.
Beginning in 2027, Americans will have the opportunity to submit applications for their initial passport entirely online via america.gov, marking a significant advancement to the existing online renewal service. The updated passport will standardize at 38 pages, superseding the current options of 26 or 50 pages, aiming for improved efficiency. The design will highlight patriotism, with the passport titled “Flight of the Eagle,” showcasing a more prominent golden seal and illustrations reflecting American history, including the American Revolution, the Wright brothers, and space exploration. The eagle will be depicted in various positions on each page, producing a flipbook effect.
Notably, the new passport will feature a “visual narrative of the greatest nation,” with designs akin to Trump’s limited edition passport, possibly incorporating his likeness. The redesigned passport seeks to enhance patriotism, size, and accessibility through online applications.
