Air France and Air Côte d'Ivoire Reveal Codeshare Agreement and Mutual Loyalty Program Benefits
Air France and Air Côte d’Ivoire have recently unveiled a strategic alliance that features a codeshare arrangement and reciprocal loyalty programs. This collaboration is set to begin on October 25, 2026, enabling both carriers to apply their codes to one another’s flights connecting Paris (CDG) and Abidjan (ABJ), thus offering customers enhanced flight selections. Although this does not constitute a joint venture, it allows each airline to promote the other’s services, while maintaining independent pricing.

Furthermore, by the end of 2026, the partnership will integrate the airlines’ loyalty frameworks, Flying Blue and sMiles. This development will permit Flying Blue members to accumulate and utilize miles on Air Côte d’Ivoire services, while sMiles members will enjoy the same benefits on Air France flights, thereby broadening their network access.

Air France possesses an interest in Air Côte d’Ivoire, indicative of historical connections and governmental ties rather than solely economic motives. The CEOs of both companies have conveyed their enthusiasm for the collaboration, underscoring the enhanced flexibility and reinforced economic and cultural links between France and Côte d’Ivoire.

Despite the anticipated advantages, there are apprehensions regarding the financial sustainability of Air Côte d’Ivoire’s operations, especially concerning its two Airbus A330-900neos, which face challenges with low usage rates as they compete against Air France’s established market presence and superior service offerings.

For aviation aficionados, this partnership sparks optimism for Flying Blue award redemptions on Air Côte d’Ivoire’s flights, especially in first class, which remains rare and costly. The alliance could possibly introduce new travel possibilities, although the feasibility and effectiveness of Air Côte d’Ivoire’s services remain uncertain.
