Air Canada to Enhance 777s & 787s with New Interiors and Business Class Suites
Air Canada has recently introduced its innovative Glowing Hearted cabin standard for long-haul aircraft, which will be implemented on new Airbus A321XLR and Boeing 787-10 models. The airline has also revealed intentions to upgrade its current wide-body planes with these modern cabins. According to Kiyo Weiss, Air Canada’s Senior Director of Sales for Asia Pacific, the refurbishment of Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft is anticipated to commence by 2029. Nevertheless, the schedule is still under discussion, and the initiative may begin sooner.

All current Boeing 787s will undergo retrofitting, and Boeing 777s expected to remain operational into the 2030s will also be updated with the new interiors. Conversely, Airbus A330s will be retired with their existing cabins. The new cabin standard will feature revamped reverse herringbone seats, privacy doors, and improved technology such as 27″ 4K OLED screens and Bluetooth audio. Additionally, Air Canada will launch a “business class plus” offering, branded as Air Canada Signature Plus Suites.

In addition to the new hard product, Air Canada aims to elevate its soft product with a uniquely Canadian hospitality experience, encompassing enhanced service, dining and beverage selections, and upgraded amenities. The retrofit initiative underscores Air Canada’s dedication to preserving a competitive advantage in the long-haul business class sector.
