In late 2025, Air France revealed intentions to establish a lounge at London Heathrow Airport (LHR), which is encouraging news for SkyTeam flyers departing from one of the primary terminals. An exciting update is here, as the lounge is officially open today, and we have additional information about what awaits visitors.
Air France Lounge London Heathrow Terminal 4 details
As of July 7, 2026, Air France has debuted a new lounge at Heathrow Airport Terminal 4, operating daily from 5AM to 10PM. Spanning approximately 750 square meters (8,070 square feet), the lounge accommodates 150 guests. Regarding amenities, here’s what to look forward to:
– Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that allow ample natural light and provide sweeping views of the apron and runways
– A dining area featuring a buffet that varies throughout the day, offering both sweet and savory options; there is also a bar serving a selection of French wines and champagne
– A relaxation area, as well as a space equipped with workstations
– A Clarins Spa section in a private treatment room, available Monday through Friday, with treatments offered on a first-come, first-served basis, or La Premiere customers can book in advance; guests may select one complimentary treatment — options include “Anti Jet-Lag,” “L’Instant Detox,” and “Focus Regard”
– A dedicated section for those connecting to La Premiere (first class), featuring five seats and offering a la carte dining
– An area set aside for Flying Blue Ultimate members, consisting of four seats
For an outstation lounge, these features are quite remarkable. You can view some images of the new lounge below.
The lounge adheres to standard SkyTeam lounge access policies, welcoming SkyTeam first and business class passengers, along with SkyTeam Elite Plus members. For those interested, the lounge occupies the space previously held by the Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge, which closed its doors permanently in late 2020.
This marks an excellent enhancement to Air France’s lounge network.
From a strategic standpoint, London Heathrow is undeniably a key market for nearly any airline operating there. This is especially pertinent given that British Airways is headquartered at Heathrow, posing as a significant rival to Air France. Therefore, it is understandable to aim for a top-notch lounge experience at a competitor’s hub.
Among lounges operated by European airlines, Air France undoubtedly excels. It’s impressive to see that the lounge includes a spa, along with designated areas for La Premiere patrons and Flying Blue Ultimate members, which aligns with typical offerings in Air France-operated lounges.
Previously, Air France directed its premium passengers to the Plaza Premium Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 4, making this a substantial upgrade in experience. Interestingly, the two-level SkyTeam Lounge was replaced by a single-level Plaza Premium Lounge and the new Saudia Lounge on another level.
Bottom line
Air France has recently opened a lounge at London Heathrow Airport. Encompassing around 750 square meters and seating approximately 150 guests, it boasts an impressive variety of amenities, including a spa, a dedicated first class section, and even a space for elite members. It’s encouraging to see Air France launching its own facility at the airport, which should be beneficial for SkyTeam travelers overall.
