American Express has launched a novel concept known as Sidecar by Centurion Lounge at Las Vegas Airport (LAS), providing a distinct take on the conventional Centurion Lounge experience. This new venue is accessible to travelers with flights leaving within 90 minutes and boasts a more compact, restaurant-style environment where patrons can order food and beverages through a QR code. Following its debut in Las Vegas, Amex intends to roll out this concept to additional airports featuring Centurion Lounges.
The subsequent Sidecar by Centurion Lounge is anticipated to open at Charlotte Airport (CLT) in 2027. The City of Charlotte sanctioned this new idea during a City Council Business Meeting on March 9, 2026. The proposed lounge will span 4,641 square feet in Concourse A as part of the airport’s expansion’s second phase. Amex has committed to a five-year lease, which can be extended for another five years, with an initial rental rate of $200 per square foot, reaching nearly one million dollars annually, accompanied by a 2.5% yearly increase.
At present, Charlotte Airport features a 13,000 square foot Centurion Lounge situated between Concourse D and E. The new Sidecar Lounge will be considerably larger than its Las Vegas counterpart, which accommodates up to 33 visitors.
Charlotte Airport’s lounge options are enhancing, with recent updates including the inauguration of American’s Provisions by Admirals Club and plans for a Capital One Lounge and an American Flagship Lounge. Nonetheless, schedules for the Capital One and American Flagship Lounges remain to be clarified.
In conclusion, American Express is poised to launch a Sidecar by Centurion Lounge in Concourse A at Charlotte Airport, with construction anticipated to commence shortly and the lounge set to open in 2027. This initiative is part of wider enhancements to the airport’s lounge amenities.
