Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE) is scheduled to shut down from April 4 to November 19, 2027, to facilitate infrastructure enhancements, which involve runway reconstruction in compliance with FAA standards. The runway will undergo a shift and expansion from 100 to 150 feet. All operations will be suspended during this timeframe. Preliminary work is set to commence this summer. Construction of a new terminal will begin in 2027, with an anticipated opening in 2029. Upon reopening in late 2027, the airport will operate using its existing facilities. These improvements are intended to boost safety, accessibility, and efficiency.
