Different hotel loyalty schemes feature varying regulations concerning the accumulation of points and elite qualifying nights when reserving multiple rooms. In simpler terms, if you frequently travel with relatives and reserve two rooms, can you accrue elite credits and points for each of them?

Accumulating points for several hotel rooms
Which hotel loyalty schemes allow you to earn points for more than one room? The guidelines differ among hotel loyalty programs, so in this article, I will examine the policies of the primary programs, as they influence the earning of points and elite qualifying credits for multiple rooms (in each section title, I’ve included a link to the terms & conditions).
Accor Live Limitless
Accor Live Limitless permits you to earn points for as many as two rooms, provided all eligible charges for the rooms are settled by the member. While elite qualifying night credits are only awarded for one room, all expenditures for both rooms contribute as status points, aiding in unlocking elite status.
Choice Privileges
Choice Privileges allows the earning of points for a maximum of four rooms. The rooms must be under the member’s name, and the reservations should include the member number. However, bonus points (for promotions or extras) are granted for just one room, and elite status points are earned only for one room.
Hilton Honors
Hilton Honors allows the earning of base points for up to four rooms, as long as all eligible charges for both rooms are billed on a single folio. Nevertheless, elite qualifying stay and night credits are only accrued for one room. The fact that base points can be earned for as many as four rooms is notable since many individuals achieve status with Hilton through spending, which considers base points. If you’re aiming for Hilton Diamond Reserve status (which comes with a spending requirement), the expenditures from all rooms may count toward that.
IHG One Rewards
IHG One Rewards enables you to earn points for up to nine rooms, provided the member’s IHG loyalty number is included in each reservation, or charges from those multiple rooms are applied to the bill tied to the member’s reservation. However, elite qualifying night credits are awarded for just one room.
Marriott Bonvoy
Marriott Bonvoy allows the accumulation of points for a total of three rooms, assuming the member is responsible for the payment of all three rooms. However, elite qualifying night credits are awarded for one room only. If you are pursuing Marriott Ambassador status (which includes a spending requirement), the spending from all rooms can contribute toward that.
Radisson Rewards
Radisson Rewards permits earning points for up to three rooms booked under the same reservation, assuming the member is registered as a guest in one of the rooms. However, elite qualifying night credits are granted for just one room.
World of Hyatt
World of Hyatt allows the earning of points for as many as three rooms, as long as the member pays for all three rooms. However, elite qualifying night credits are given for just one room.
Wyndham Rewards
Wyndham Rewards allows you to earn points for a maximum of three rooms, as long as the member is responsible for the payment of all three rooms. However, elite qualifying night credits are only awarded for one room.
Most hotel programs allow points for multiple rooms
Key points to consider for earning hotel points
Several important considerations for earning points for multiple rooms across programs include:
– The member must be staying in one of the rooms to qualify (typically, you can’t solely utilize your hotel elite status for others).
– This usually functions most smoothly if all rooms are reserved in the name of the primary guest earning points, and then the individuals actually staying in the additional rooms can be listed as extra guests on those reservations.
– Although not required by all programs, I always request that all charges be placed on one folio, as I find that stays are recorded accurately most consistently when this occurs (ensure you use a credit card that maximizes hotel spending).
– Only “eligible” stays qualify, which can vary by program’s definition (this often excludes bookings through third parties).
– Stays must occur at the same hotel (in general, you can’t earn points for stays at different hotels on the same night); note that in some instances, individuals have managed to have elite nights posted for different locations on the same night with a good rationale (for instance, you took a redeye to Europe and wished to book a room there the previous night for check-in upon arrival).
I suggest requesting all charges be put onto one folio
Receiving elite perks for multiple hotel rooms
In principle, with all programs, you only obtain elite benefits for one room, signifying the room occupied by the elite member.
The sole exception pertains to World of Hyatt’s Milestone Rewards program, which allows you to earn Guest of Honor awards. Guest of Honor awards can be utilized to confer Globalist benefits to friends and family, with each award being valid for a single stay of up to seven nights.
