I have assessed Japan Airlines’ new A350 first class and business class, and both are exceptional, ranking among the finest in their competitive categories. If you’re interested in using miles for these experiences, check out my guide on how to do so.

In this article, I aim to share the latest information on the routes where the A350-1000 can be found. At present, the aircraft is operating to five different locations, all situated in North America and Europe.

It’s important to note that these A350-1000s are distinct from the airline’s A350-900s, which are solely used for domestic routes, and boast a completely different configuration.

Japan Airlines has 13 A350-1000s ordered.

Japan Airlines is acquiring these aircraft gradually, and all 13 A350-1000s are not anticipated to be part of the oneworld carrier’s fleet until 2028, when the 777-300ERs will be retired. The airline has made notable progress with the speed at which these deliveries have commenced, as 11 aircraft joined the fleet in just over two years.

There is one additional detail to highlight. The aircraft with the registration code JA10WJ sustained damage during a ground incident at New York (JFK) in December 2025, and has not been in operation since. It seems that the aircraft is undergoing repairs and is set to return to service this fall, as indicated by the most recent updates to the flight schedule.
