JetBlue to Introduce Blue First Premium Class Throughout Entire Fleet Beginning Late 2026

JetBlue is recognized for its outstanding Mint business class offering, yet the caveat is that it’s limited to certain premium routes. Luckily, some time ago, JetBlue revealed intentions to roll out a premium product across the remainder of its fleet, more akin to domestic first class.

This is completely logical, not only because of the widespread travel patterns we’ve observed but also due to the premium markets JetBlue serves, especially its significant footprint in Boston and New York.

I’d like to present an updated perspective on the timeline for the rollout of this product, at least based on current knowledge. In summary, anticipate a broad rollout commencing in October 2026, with project completion hoped for by late 2027… fingers crossed.

JetBlue will introduce first class on all planes without Mint

JetBlue will be launching a new premium cabin across all aircraft that don’t currently offer Mint. While there were early speculations that this would be labeled “Mini Mint,” it appears that JetBlue has opted for the name “Blue First” for this offering. It may not be overly imaginative, but it certainly aligns with the brand.

A few months ago, JetBlue confirmed its plans to roll out this product extensively in the latter half of 2026, with approximately 20% of the non-Mint fleet expected to feature the new product by the end of 2026, and a large proportion of aircraft achieving this by the end of 2027.

It’s my understanding that timelines are slightly off schedule, however — the general rollout is anticipated to begin around October 2026, as I gather, with about 20 planes being reconfigured each month. JonNYC has been detailing that the certification process for the seats has been in progress for some time now.

JetBlue is thought to have chosen the Collins Aerospace MiQ seat for this new offering, which is a standard seat found on numerous airlines. For instance, it’s the same seat featured in American’s domestic first class.

Currently, we lack additional details, so it remains unclear what sort of soft product the airline will provide in its new premium cabin. JetBlue excels in food and beverage service in Mint, so it’s hoped that this excellent concept will also extend to this cabin. Nonetheless, as non-Mint aircraft don’t have ovens, it’s reasonable to anticipate seeing cold meals (which can still be of high quality).

How JetBlue will reconfigure planes to add first class

Initially, JetBlue proposed to add eight first class seats on A220s and 12 first class seats on A320s and A321s. However, these plans evolved, and in a March 2026 8K-filing, the airline revealed its intention to implement three to four rows of first class on all aircraft, indicating that planes will likely be outfitted with one additional row than originally planned.

I speculate that A220s and A320s will feature 12 seats, whereas A321s might accommodate 16 seats, but only time will verify this. I could also envision A320s having four rows of first class, contingent on how efficiently the airline can execute the installations.
