La Compagnie Launches All-Business Class Flights from Newark to Düsseldorf

The transatlantic all-business-class operator La Compagnie has unveiled its fourth route, which surprisingly heads not to France or Italy but to Germany! Beginning in spring 2027, the airline will provide nonstop flights between Newark and Düsseldorf. This is quite exciting, if you ask me, although I’m curious about its potential success.

La Compagnie will connect Newark & Düsseldorf

La Compagnie, an all-business-class airline, intends to commence up to 5x weekly nonstop flights between Newark (EWR) and Düsseldorf (DUS) starting in spring 2027. Specifically, this service will begin on April 21, 2027, following the schedule below:

B0401 Newark to Düsseldorf departing at 9:00PM arriving at 10:20AM (+1 day)
B0400 Düsseldorf to Newark departing at 12:00PM arriving at 2:45PM

La Compagnie will operate flights from Newark to Düsseldorf

The flight spans 3,762 miles and is scheduled at 7hr20min eastbound and 8hr45min westbound, utilizing the airline’s newly acquired Airbus A321LR (more details to follow). This marks La Compagnie’s fourth destination out of Newark, alongside year-round services to Paris (ORY) and Milan (MXP), in addition to seasonal offerings to Nice (NCE).

Tickets for this route are already available for purchase. At present, I see prices starting around $4,000 for a round trip, but I anticipate more competitive rates emerging over time.

This new route is intriguing, as it will be Düsseldorf’s sole transatlantic connection. For those unfamiliar, Düsseldorf may not be a large city, but it ranks among the wealthier urban centers in Germany, located not far from Frankfurt. Currently, it lacks any transatlantic flights, although until 2015, Lufthansa did operate routes from Düsseldorf to both Chicago (ORD) and Newark (EWR). Those were good times, as award availability in first class on those routes was exceptional!

Here’s how La Compagnie rationalizes the decision to introduce this service:

The new service addresses clear demand in North Rhine-Westphalia, a globally connected economic region with longstanding ties to the U.S. Düsseldorf stands as one of the premier trade show destinations worldwide and serves as a hub for international businesses in sectors such as fashion, telecommunications, life sciences, professional services, and advanced manufacturing. Over 24,000 international firms are situated in the state, including around 1,700 U.S. enterprises. The United States is also North Rhine-Westphalia’s most significant non-European export market, highlighting the importance of direct flights to New York.

As the largest airport in Germany’s most populous federal state, Düsseldorf Airport combines a strong local market with efficiency, accessibility, and a premium airport environment. For leisure travelers, Düsseldorf provides art, architecture, shopping, and gastronomy, while also acting as a convenient point of access to the Rhineland’s historic towns, vineyards, castles, and famous river-cruise itineraries along the Rhine. The airport’s closeness to the Netherlands and Belgium additionally makes this route an appealing choice for travelers from nearby regions.
