The summer travel season has already set new records, with U.S. airlines anticipating 271 million passengers from June 1 to August 31, as reported by Airlines for America.
For a long time, Lyft has specialized in ensuring that travelers reach their destinations punctually.
Beginning this summer, Lyft’s On-Time Pickup Promise, which initially started as a holiday travel promotion, will become a permanent feature for riders. This means that if you’re not picked up on time, you’ll receive compensation.
On-Time Pickup Promise
Starting Wednesday, Lyft’s On-Time Pickup Promise will apply to prearranged airport rides, guaranteeing timely arrivals or offering compensation if the service is delayed.
Riders can book Lyft trips as far as 30 days ahead, ensuring they secure their pickup date, time, and cost to minimize stress. Pre-arranged rides are prioritized when matching with a driver, who can accept these rides once they are booked. These scheduled rides can be changed or canceled up to an hour before the set pickup time.
If you are not picked up on time for your planned airport Lyft ride, Lyft Cash credit will be automatically credited to your account as indicated below:
- Receive $15 in Lyft Cash if your driver arrives over 10 minutes late (reduced from $20 during the initial launch phase).
- You’ll receive $50 in Lyft Cash if a driver hasn’t been assigned to you within 10 minutes of your scheduled pickup time.
- Receive up to an additional $50 in Lyft Cash if you are not paired with a driver and your ride with a different company costs over $50.
The initial two payments will be processed automatically; however, you need to reach out to Lyft via the help section in their app and provide the receipt for your alternative transportation to receive reimbursement for the extra $50.

Extra Comfort mode
Lyft’s Extra Comfort option enables travelers to attain rest and relaxation as soon as they enter their vehicle. Rides marked as “Extra Comfort” provide more spacious cars, highly rated drivers, and customizable preferences for temperature, quietness, or luggage assistance.
These additions come on the heels of the successful introduction of Lyft’s Women+ Connect, a service that pairs women and nonbinary riders with drivers in specific cities.
