Oman Air has recently inaugurated a new route linking Muscat to Copenhagen via Baghdad, signifying a notable expansion of its network. Commencing on December 16, 2025, the airline will operate this route twice a week with a Boeing 737 MAX 8, which accommodates 162 passengers, including 12 in business class and 150 in economy. The flight timetable is as follows:
– WY425 leaves Muscat at 1:00 PM, reaching Baghdad at 2:55 PM, then departs Baghdad at 3:55 PM, arriving in Copenhagen at 7:25 PM.
– WY426 leaves Copenhagen at 8:25 PM, reaching Baghdad at 3:25 AM (+1 day), then departs Baghdad at 4:25 AM, arriving in Muscat at 8:00 AM.
This new route provides a fifth freedom service on the Baghdad to Copenhagen leg, enabling travelers to book flights between Muscat and Baghdad, Muscat and Copenhagen, and Baghdad and Copenhagen. The total travel time between Muscat and Copenhagen is about 9 hours and 25 minutes eastbound and 8 hours and 35 minutes westbound.
The launch of this route is part of Oman Air’s restructuring plan, which includes reducing its wide-body fleet and prioritizing more efficient operations with Boeing 737s. This strategy allows the airline to cater to various markets while keeping prices competitive. However, the stopover in Baghdad may catch some passengers off guard, considering the prevailing view of Iraq. Nevertheless, the route offers an appealing option for travelers and enhances Oman Air’s presence in Europe.
