For many years, Mexico’s inaugural Park Hyatt has been anticipated, and I have been eager to explore it. Finally, after a significant (and mismanaged) delay, there’s encouraging news: the hotel has officially opened! I apologize beforehand for the mix of renderings and actual photos in this post, as those are all the hotel has released at this point.
In this post:
Overview of the Park Hyatt Los Cabos, Mexico
The Park Hyatt Los Cabos, positioned in Baja California Sur, Mexico, has welcomed guests starting December 4, 2025. The Park Hyatt resides on a 26-acre site within Cabo Del Sol, a golf resort community that extends over two miles of beachfront. This is the same locale where the recently inaugurated Four Seasons Cabo San Lucas at Cabo Del Sol opened its doors in May 2024.

Regarding dining options, the hotel features Mesa Madre (serving Mexican and Latin American cuisine), Silán (a Mediterranean dining venue), Costamar Beach Club (a casual beach club open all day), Pool Bar and Pool Decks (the poolside dining alternative), and Datil Coffee Shop (as the name hints, a coffee shop!).

It’s fantastic to see this hotel finally debut, considering the delays it faced. Initially announced back in 2017, it had a proposed opening in 2020. This timeline was repeatedly postponed for various reasons, but fortunately, it has now finally opened its doors.
This marks one of three new Park Hyatt locations set to debut in Mexico, with the others being Park Hyatt Cancun and Park Hyatt Mexico City, both expected to open in 2026, though we shall see how that schedule unfolds.
Park Hyatt Los Cabos rates & points requirements
Now that the Park Hyatt Los Cabos is open, what are the rates? For those using points, this property is classified as a Category 8 within World of Hyatt, meaning a free night redemption in a standard room costs between 35,000 and 45,000 points per night. For a standard suite, the free night redemption is between 56,000 and 66,000 points per night.
Park Hyatt Los Cabos rate in points
Cash rates at Park Hyatt Los Cabos are high — with significant seasonal fluctuations, they typically fall between $1,000 and $2,000 nightly, excluding Mexico’s substantial taxes and service charges, which amounts to approximately 35%. Therefore, this is an excellent property for redeeming points, if you can secure a reservation.

For those planning to book a cash stay here, I recommend using the Hyatt Privé program, which provides additional benefits like room upgrades, complimentary breakfast, and hotel credits.
Why I’m enthusiastic about the Park Hyatt Los Cabos
As I’ve previously mentioned, Los Cabos is one of my favored vacation destinations. The service is outstanding (hospitality in Mexico is fantastic in general, and even more so in Los Cabos), the cuisine is delectable, the weather is ideal, I appreciate the rugged desert and ocean scenery, and it’s an excellent location for whale watching. Best of all, it’s conveniently close to the United States, minimizing jetlag concerns.
The drawback with Los Cabos is the scarcity of luxury points hotels:
The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal is wonderful, but currently, redemptions are prohibitively expensive, making excitement hard to muster.
The Cape, A Thompson Hotel, is perhaps the most consistently reliable points property in terms of quality and award availability.
Zadun Los Cabos, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, is also superb, although points costs at Ritz-C
