Porter Airlines is initiating a substantial cabin enhancement for its De Havilland Dash 8-400 fleet. This project entails the incorporation of the newest Expliseat TiSeat 2V, recognized as the lightest option in its class, which seeks to boost passenger comfort while retaining a lightweight structure. The refurbishment comprises upgraded seat and back cushions, revamped tray tables, and holders for personal electronic devices. Furthermore, the cabins will showcase contemporary LED technology, mood lighting, and fresh carpeting.
The airline keeps the existing seating arrangement of 78 seats in a 2-2 configuration, featuring 32 inches of seat pitch in PorterReserve and 30 inches in PorterClassic. Although the seat pitch stays the same, the improved cushioning might slightly lessen legroom. This action partially undoes the cabin densification initiated in 2021, responding to travelers’ feedback regarding seat comfort.
Kent Woodside, Porter’s Chief Operating Officer, highlights the significance of seat comfort in enhancing the overall passenger experience, even on brief regional flights. The airline strives to uphold its reputation for comfort and hospitality by providing amenities such as complimentary beer and wine.
As Porter progresses in expanding its fleet with Embraer E190-E2 aircraft, noted for their contemporary design but criticized for a lack of cushioning, these upgrades illustrate a dedication to passenger input and comfort.
