Qatar Airways Enforces New Regulation Restricting Award Reservations for Third Parties

Qatar Airways Privilege Club has implemented new limitations on Avios redemption, necessitating members to establish nominee lists. Members are allowed to redeem Avios for a maximum of four other Privilege Club members or six non-members, who must stay on the list for a duration of six months. To establish these lists, members must maintain an active account for 30 days and fulfill a qualifying activity, such as accruing flight miles or executing a co-branded credit card transaction. Although these measures are intended to mitigate fraud, they also encourage increased engagement with the program, potentially alienating those who solely transfer points from bank programs.
