**Royal Jordanian’s Significant Growth and Enhanced Passenger Experience**

Royal Jordanian Airlines is starting a major growth and modernization initiative, aimed at improving the passenger experience. This entails the launch of a new long-haul business class seat. The airline has recently acquired its first aircraft outfitted with these innovative interiors, signaling an exciting new era for the Amman-based oneworld member.

### Royal Jordanian’s Fresh Reverse Herringbone Business Class

Previously, Royal Jordanian’s wide-body fleet included seven Boeing 787-8s. The airline has now placed an order for six Boeing 787-9s, effectively doubling its long-haul capability. The first of these aircraft, bearing the registration code JY-RBA, has been delivered. The new 787-9s are designed with 312 seats, comprising 32 business class seats and 280 economy class seats.

This is part of the airline’s extensive fleet renewal strategy, which also involves the acquisition of new jets from Airbus and Embraer.

Royal Jordanian’s 787-8 passenger experience has been deemed unsatisfactory, lacking Wi-Fi and featuring Collins Aerospace Diamond seats in a 2-2-2 layout. However, this is set to improve with the rollout of the new passenger experience on the 787-9s, with plans to retrofit the 787-8s to match this standard.

The first 787-9 has arrived in Amman and is projected to commence service on April 7, 2026, with initial operations scheduled for flight RJ111 to London.

### Collins Aerospace Elements Product

Royal Jordanian seems to have opted for the Collins Aerospace Elements product for its upgraded business class. This reverse herringbone seat is the latest offering from Collins Aerospace, akin to what is used in Starlux’s A350 business class. The design of the seat shell indicates that it is not the older Collins Aerospace Super Diamond seat, which is bulkier and found in Etihad’s A350 business class.

### Conclusion

Royal Jordanian is undergoing significant modernization, with new aircraft arrivals, including Boeing 787-9s. The first of these introduces a new business class, expected to be universally implemented across the Dreamliner fleet. The selection of the Collins Aerospace Elements product signifies a premium offering for the airline’s business class.
