Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is embarking on an important transformation, focusing on upgrading its premium services. A central element of this initiative is the introduction of a new lounge at Copenhagen Airport, scheduled to debut in June 2027. This new space will be situated on the fourth floor of Terminal 3 and will cover 3,700 square meters (40,000 square feet), which is 40% larger than the existing lounge. It will provide 1,095 seats and have the capacity to serve up to 4,000 guests each day.
The lounge will boast sweeping views of the runway and designated areas for a variety of activities, including 24 private work pods, enhanced shower and restroom amenities, and private hotel accommodations. A special section will be designated for SAS’s elite customers, offering a superior experience. The food and drink selections will feature a dedicated bar with barista service and a bakery providing fresh pastries and snacks. The lounge will follow standard SkyTeam lounge access guidelines, welcoming SkyTeam Elite Plus members and business class travelers.
SAS Chief Commercial Officer Paul Verhagen characterizes the new lounge as a destination on its own, crafted with Nordic design to create a serene environment. The lounge embodies SAS’s continuous evolution and dedication to enriching the travel experience for frequent flyers.
SAS’s transformation aligns with its Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and a revamped ownership structure, which includes a stake from Air France-KLM. The airline has transitioned its alliance from Star Alliance to SkyTeam and designated Copenhagen as a global hub. SAS has also reintroduced business class for intra-Europe flights and announced plans for fleet modernization, including orders for Airbus A330-900neos and Embraer E195-E2s.
The upcoming Copenhagen lounge marks a vital advancement in SAS’s mission to enhance its premium offerings and elevate the overall travel experience for its clientele.
