In June 2025, All Nippon Airways (ANA) declared intentions to update the interiors of its international Boeing 787-9 aircraft, unveiling brand new seats across every class, including business, premium economy, and economy. The updated business class, referred to as “The Room FX,” represents a progression of the highly praised “The Room” available on ANA’s Boeing 777-300ERs. Collaboratively designed with Safran and Acumen, “The Room FX” is touted as the most spacious seat in its category on a mid-sized aircraft, featuring a no-recline approach that converts into a bed by sliding down, akin to Finnair’s model.
The business class area will feature 48 seats arranged in a 1-2-1 pattern, providing privacy doors, a pre-reclining option, and a maximum bed length of 76.5 inches. Each seat will come equipped with a 24-inch HD screen, Bluetooth audio capabilities, and multiple charging alternatives, including USB-A, USB-C, AC, and wireless charging.
The inaugural revamped Dreamliners are expected to be delivered in August 2026, with a total of three aircraft operational by the close of that year. The new 787-9s will accommodate a total of 206 seats, reflecting a minor decrease in economy class capacity relative to the present configuration. ANA’s dedication to improving the passenger experience is apparent in the roomy design and cutting-edge technology of the new interiors, establishing a new standard in luxury air travel.
