Air France-KLM Flying Blue Unveils Choice Benefits Featuring Bonus Miles and Status Alternatives
The Flying Blue program of Air France-KLM has launched a new benefit for its members, boosting the overall appeal of the loyalty program. The program now includes three levels of Choice Benefits, which deliver extra rewards for members who surpass the Platinum status requirements but have not yet attained Ultimate status.

To reach elite status within the Flying Blue program, members gather experience points (XPs). The benchmarks for each status tier are as follows: 100 XPs for Silver, an additional 180 XPs for Gold, and another 300 XPs for Platinum. To obtain Ultimate status, 900 XPs are necessary, but these must be accrued as UXPs, which are XPs gained solely on Air France and KLM flights.

The new Choice Benefits are accessible at three UXP milestones:

– At 450 UXPs, members can select from 15,000 bonus miles, 20 bonus XP/UXPs, bestowing Silver status to someone else, or a 20,000-mile overdraft.
– At 600 UXPs, the choices include 20,000 bonus miles, 30 bonus XP/UXPs, granting Gold status, or a 30,000-mile overdraft.
– At 750 UXPs, options comprise 30,000 bonus miles, an upgrade voucher, conferring Platinum status, or a 40,000-mile overdraft.

This change is perceived as a beneficial adjustment, offering further motivation for members who exceed Platinum status. Previously, the program permitted unlimited rollover XPs; however, it now restricts this to 300 XPs, constraining the potential to achieve status over several years through rollover.

In summary, the rollout of Choice Benefits represents a significant improvement for Flying Blue members, providing additional rewards and flexibility for those who go beyond the Platinum threshold.
